3 years ago, my husband was given the opportunity to work for the prominent logistics company, DHL. I had mixed emotions. I felt relieved knowing that it’s going to be good pay job, but just the thought that he’d be relocated to a remote area and that he’d be miles away from us, I didn’t like the idea. What else can I do, he’s very much eager and signed the contract right away. Besides, I am not the type of person who would hold someone else’s wish.

Not only that, I also had to give up my job which I had for over 9 years. There was no other option but to go home with my daughter then, Deye. In two weeks time, my husband left Bahrain for his new job. I was left alone with my daughter plus the furniture and other stuff that we had possessed for many years. That also I had to think of. Most of the things which I think will be impractical to take home, I’ve sold them except for the small things that were given to us like the personalized anniversary wine glasses. Too bad they broke before they could even reached me. I really felt bad giving up majority of our belongings. Some of them were wedding gifts. If I had other choice, I would keep and take them all with me.

When you were younger, did you set an ideal age to marry? Yes, I did. I set myself to marry at the age of 24 and get pregnant right away, so by the age of 25, I would have our first bundle of joy. I wish it was that easy! But obviously it wasn’t and it didn’t push through haha!

I met my husband when I was 23 and we got married 5 years later. It was his 3rd proposal though. Maybe I was just not ready and had too many things that occupied my mind. So yeah, I got married at the age of 28 which was 4 years later than my target age and had our first born 2 years later. I would sometimes joke with my parents, that If I knew he’s the same guy I’m going to end up with after our 3 months break-up, I would have gotten pregnant earlier, even out of marriage.
