Three consecutive sleepless nights. Skin irritation and rashes. These are the things that have been bothering me for the past 3 days. And because it was still tolerable and not so much during the first two days, I just ignored it. But today, rashes have scattered all over my body particularly my abdomen part, legs, armpit, back and back of my neck.

I think this is no more just a plain skin irritation. I’m off to see my OB tomorrow and see what she would advice. But before I go there, I thought of checking the Internet first and get some information that would at least enlighten me if this normally happen during pregnancy. And here’s what I got:

PUPPP – (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy)

This condition is the most common dermatosis (skin condition) of pregnancy. The cause was unknown until recently when Dr Selim Aracting and colleagues from France reported studies linking PUPPP with cells from the developing baby (foetus). Their studies suggest that foetal cells can invade the mother’s skin during pregnancy, and in some way cause this skin disorder to develop.

Symptoms and signs

* What red raised spots or bumps that itch strongly.
* Where the rash usually starts on the abdomen and spreads to the thighs. Occasionally, the rash spreads to arms and buttocks. The face is never involved. -Source

And these are exactly the symptoms and signs that I have encountered. Though it says this condition causes no harm to mother or baby, I still want to feel relieved as it really itches strongly. I’m still going to see a doctor then on my way back home maybe check on the sofa and Kohler fixtures for our house.
